MCM Attacks Zone Championships

Mid Cities Masters (MCM) finished 4th at the recent South Central Zone Championships held at the Woodlands the weekend of 7/16.  With a total of only eight swimmers, this was quite a feat.

Jane Birkhead set 6 Zone records in the 65-69 age group.  In addition to her six record breaking gold medal performances (50, 100, 200, 400, 800 free and 200IM), she finished a close second in two other events (50 fly and 50 breast).  

Nancy Wendell, Keller Swim Team Coach and the new Coach for Keller High School, had a stellar performance by winning 7 of her 8 events.  She was narrowly touched out in the 100 free but won the 50, 200, 400, 800, and 1500 free and the 50, 100 fly.  

Kathy Boyer, Keller Swim Team Coach, finished 4th in the 400 free, 3rd in the 800 free, 2nd in the  1500 free, 2nd in the 200 breast, 2nd in the 200 fly, 6th in the 200IM and 4th in the 400IM.

Chris Osburn finished 2nd in the 50 free, 2nd in the 200 back, 1st in the 50, 100, and 200 breast, 1st in the 200 fly, and 2nd in the 200 and 400 IM.

Bob Carter finished 3rd in the 50, 100, and 200 free, 2nd in the 400 free, 1st in the 800 free, 3rd in the 200 back, 3rd in the 50 fly and 3rd in the 400IM. Ann Carson finished 4th in the 50 back, 2nd in the 100 back and 50 breast and 3rd in the 50 fly.   Kristin Creech participating in her first Masters event placed 1st in the 1500 free, 200 back and 200IM.  Argierree Potter also participating in her first Masters event placed 1st in the 100 breast and 2nd in the 50 back, 50 fly and 200 IM.
